Standard Art Programs

 Arts & Crafts*

 Young imaginations light up through a variety of projects from all types of media.

 Image Makers Photography

 Kids capture action and images within the club and outside through this hands-on photography program. Both 35mm and digital cameras are used as members learn about composition, lighting and how to shoot a good picture.

 National Fine Arts Program*

 This year-round program exposes members to an array of artistic media. Kids work in pastels, oils, acrylics, watercolors, mixed media, collage, ceramics, printmaking or photography. Once a year selected pieces from each Club head to the National Fine Arts Exhibit held at the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s national headquarters.

 Performing Arts*

 Kids experience the limelight through song, dance, drama, musical instruments or spoken word. Performances or Talent Shows for live audiences occur quarterly at each Club.

 Standard Art Activities

 Seasonal Projects

 Whatever the season or holiday, there’s always decorating to do. Kids pitch in with an array of projects to help make their Clubs and homes more festive.

 Optional Art Programs

 Dance

 Members learn to express their creativity through movement.

 Garden Club

 The Garden Club gets kids outdoors and their hands into the soil. Members plant vegetables, fruits or flowers and care for them as they grow. While getting gardening tips, kids also learn about the health and financial benefits of growing their own food.

 Jewelry Making

 Using beads, metal, clay and environmental materials, kids create works of art they can wear. Group and individual projects introduce members to the practice of making functional art.

 Art Department Special Events

Field Trips (at least 1 per quarter per Club)

Members visit cultural venues like the Krannert Art Museum, University of Illinois Cultural Houses, Prosperity Gardens, Miller Park Zoo and IMAX Theater.
